Medicine San Frontier or MSF suspended medical activities in Malakal and Bentiu due to insecurity as a result of the ongoing political crisis in the country.

MSF head of Mission in South Sudan Raphael Gorgeu told the press in Juba on Friday that armed men on Thursday entered and looted their compound prompting the mission to suspend operations for a while, Bakhita Radio reported.

Mr Gorgeu said the Mission on several times urged the warring parties to respect humanitarian agencies.

He expressed concerned about difficult situation of the people in need after their operations stopped in Bentiu.

Mr Gorgeu said most of MSF staff took refuge at the UNMISS compound waiting for evacuation to Juba.

He said MSF would resume if the political crisis calmed down.
