The UN International Organization for Migration or IOM Chief called on the national government to build dikes in order to avoid floods and prepare communities.
David Derthic after receiving relief items from the Japan government through Japan International Cooperation Agency or JICA told CRN on Friday that the government needs to preposition food supply around the country so that flood victims do not wait for so long.
He said the items worth 180 thousand US Dollars would be transported to Wau by trucks and to Gogrial East by helicopters.
Mr Derthic said the relief items would be enough for 400 homeless families whose crops were swept away by floods.
The items were donated in response to the general appeal of the government of South Sudan.
