Western Bahr El Ghazal Volunteers of South Sudan Red Cross held on Thursday their third annual assembly in Wau to share experiences and review and evaluate services offered to the communities during the year.

Talking to Voice of Hope, Branch Director Leon Arkanjelo said that the assembly aimed at bringing volunteers from different locations to review challenges and achievements.

He explained that the Red Cross depended entirely on volunteers for its activities in rural and urban areas.

Mr Arkanjelo said everybody must be a member of Red Cross society; what he called a movement for humanitarian assistance.

Red Cross State Communication Officer Pual John added that the assembly was also meant to arrange for elections of team leaders of counties and municipality.

He explained that the meeting would also disseminate the volunteers’ code of conduct, and financial and narrative reports on the Red Cross activities in Western Bahr El Ghazal state.

75 participants, including volunteers for Greater Equatoria, attended the assembly meeting on Thursday in Wau.

Friday they will witness the graduation of First Aiders.
