National Legislature re-passes Media Acts with President’s observations

The National Legislature on Wednesday passed the three media acts to be signed into law after incorporating observations of the President of the Republic.
 
Speaker Manasseh Magok Rundial ruled the passing after counting votes for maintaining or deleting observations on bona fide disclosure of information.
 
Ten voted for maintenance and 100 for deletion.
 
The majority of legislators voted for the deletion of the phrase referring ‘any mistaken disclosure of information to penal court.’
 
The legislature assented to President Salva Kiir´s observation for the appointment of two deputy information commissioners to the Broadcasting Corporation to guarantee its independence.
 
The National Legislature comprising the National Legislative Assembly and the Council of States cleared the Media Acts on Access to Information, Media Authority and Broadcasting Corporation for assent by the President for the second time.
