The National Legislative Assembly on Monday passed the Law Review Commission Bill 2013.

Legislation and Justice Committee Chairperson Dengtiel Kuur presented the bill in its second, third, fourth and final readings.

He said the committee observed that the Bill was consistent with the Transitional Constitution of the Republic of South Sudan.

Mr Dengtiel added that the committee conducted a public hearing on the bill and that many stakeholders gave their opinions, analyses and experiences.

The House under the chairmanship of Speaker Manasseh Rundial Magok referred the Nile Basin Cooperative Agreement Framework to the joint committees of Water Resources, Legislation and Justice for scrutiny before deliberation next week.

The referral followed a lengthy presentation of the Nile Basin Cooperative Agreement by Justice Minister Paulino Wanawilla Unango who called for a speedy ratification of the agreement as adopted by member states of the Nile Basin.

On Tuesday, the MPs will deliberate on President Salva Kiir Mayardit’s observations on the three media acts.
