Japan embassy concludes two-day press tour in Juba

The Japan embassy, JICA and the Japanese Engineers Contingent with UNMISS concluded a two-day Official Development Assistance press tour site in Juba.
 
The journalists visited water supply facilities, Juba Na Bari community road, improved facilities at Multi Service Training Centre, construction and rehabilitation of bridges and the new bridge under construction, Bakhita Radio reported.
 
The new water supply project funded by Japan will be completed by 2015 and the new bridge should be ready by 2016.
 
Ambassador Takeshi Akamatsu said the Japan government wanted to help South Sudan built the country like any other nation.
 
He said it was up to the South Sudan’s Government and its people to decide what nation they wanted to build.
 
Ambassador Akamatsu appealed to the government and the people of South Sudan to use the country’s resources rightly in building the new nation.
 
The Japanese ambassador said the aim of the grant assistance is to help the government and its people decide their own future like other countries.
 
Ambassador Akamatsu said they would love to go out of South Sudan and soon as the country grows like Japan did in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore and South Sudan is able to assist other nations.
 
He added that Japan’s government will continued to support the government of South Sudan and its people.
 
Ambassador Akamatsu said since South Sudan gained its independence on July 9, 2011, Japan  injected over 320 million US dollars in different projects for development of the country. 
 
In a press release, the ambassador said Japan plans to extend another 220 million US Dollars to South Sudan for development.
