US Ambassador hands over facility to Western Equatoria

United States Ambassador to South Sudan paid a two-day visit to Yambio, Western Equatoria State, and handed over a County Land Authority building constructed with funds from USAID to state authorities.
 
Susan Page together with USAID South Sudan Mission Country Director David McCloud handed the building to Yambio County as part of the three-year South Sudan Rural Land Governance Project, Anisa Radio reported.
 
Ambassador Page said during the ceremony that the Local Land Authority building was a project aimed at strengthening land use and planning to contribute to a land inventory in Yambio.
 
She added that was to contribute to the adoption of more a more equitable and transparent land policy.
 
Ambassador Page said the project will help officials to resolve continuous land disputes in the area.
 
State Governor Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro thanked USAID for supporting Western Equatoria.
 
He said the building will add value to public land use and attract investors to the State.
 
Governor Bakosoro urged the County Land Authority to utilize the office for the benefit of the citizens and solve land problems amicably.
 
The US Ambassador and her delegation toured many places including the Agriculture Show and Tombura-Yambio Catholic Bishop’s House.
 
The delegation also visited Nzara County before returning to Juba.
