Education, agriculture solution to hunger in South Sudan

Western Bahr El Ghazal Education minister said the only solution to bridge hunger gap in South Sudan was training more agents to help locals in order to produce their own food. 
 
Moris Yel Akol Tiit said prioritizing education and agriculture would help reduce vulnerability of people, Voice of Hope reported.
 
He expressed concern that hunger and poverty affect three quarters of the population every year in the country.
 
Mr Yel said there is hunger gap each year in July where many people suffer and thousands evacuate their residents. 
 
Minister Yel said training people to have skills in agriculture would help reduce poverty in the country rather than waiting for relief food.
 
He attributed constant hunger to lack of education, laziness and ignorance among youths in the country.
 
Mr Yel appreciated the great achievement of the Catholic University in contributing by training young people to be agriculturalists and environmentalists. 
 
He appreciated students’ determination in fighting poverty and hunger in the country.
 
Mr Yel said unity is the only way that will bring people together to build the nation.
 
The Minister called on every citizen to put more efforts on agriculture for country to be food secure.
 
Mr Yel was talking while touring Catholic University demonstration farms in Wau last week.
