Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan will tour Europe to mobilize humanitarian support for the country.
Toby Lanzer is scheduled to travel to Sweden on September 16, Norway 17, the Netherlands 18, Belgium 19 and the United Kingdom from September 20-23 to draw attention to the humanitarian challenges and mobilize support for action in the South Sudan.
In a statement issued on Friday, he will also discuss long-term development prospects for South Sudan.
Mr Lanzer will discuss with governments, humanitarian affairs, the European Commission and key NGO partners issues of food insecurity and Sudanese refugees in South Sudan.
He is expected to brief European authorities on hostilities in Jonglei that undermine developments in the country.
