Donors on Thursday gathered in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal for a consultative workshop on ‘New Deal Compact.’

The ‘New Deal Compact’ is a global reform initiative that seeks to accelerate development progress in fragile and conflicting states and find new ways of engaging governments and partners on how to build mutual trust, Voice of Hope reported.

Addressing the opening session, Governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan acknowledged the dialogue as crucial for the improvement of state livelihood.

He mentioned five state development principles to be noted in order for the state to realize its objectives.

The Governor reminded donors that they should articulate state development challenges in order to pave ways for improvement.

Mr Zachariah called for the involvement of civil societies to realize good governance.

The New Deal agreement was signed in 2011 between 18 governments of fragile states and more than 40 international donors to work together to move fragile states out of crisis.

South Sudan is among countries that ratified the new deal.
