The European Union Aviation Security Mission in South Sudan or EUAVSEC on Thursday provided 170 high visibility vests to aviation security staff and police.

The vests aimed to make officials identifiable to travelers and the public at Juba International Airport.

EUAVSEC Acting head of mission Desmond Ross said Juba International Airport was still at early stage of development.

The Deputy Minister for Transport Mijok Mijak appreciated the European Union’s International Civil Aviation Organization and other partners for supporting South Sudan to improve security at the airport.

He said Juba Airport is one of the gateways to the world and it has to operate with the standards of the international aviation industry.
