The Deputy Justice Minister on Monday appeared in the parliament to present labour bill 2013 to legislators for deliberation.
Paulino Wanawilla Unango said the Bill sets rights and responsibilities according to the International Labour Conventions and Labour Organisation.
He highlighted that non-discrimination in workplace, equal pay for equal work, privacy and freedom of association were protected rights in the Bill.
Justice Wanawilla also cited prohibitions against sexual harassment at workplace, forced and child labour and illegal movements of workers across international borders.
Speaker Manasseh Magok Rundial referred the Bill to the Justice and Public Service Committee for scrutiny.
He instructed the committee to present it for the second reading after five days.
