The Kenya Commercial Bank or KCB South Sudanese staff nationwide on Monday staged peaceful demonstrations over lack of salaries increment and bad working conditions.

The workers demanded 50 percent salaries increment, transport allowance, overtime, training of staff among others, Bakhita Radio reported.

National staff chairperson Arem Riak told the press in Juba that the staff resorted to strikes after the management failed to iron out issues they raised since 2011.

He said the national staff conducted several meetings and finally agreed on sit down strikes until their demands were met.

Mr Riak said the Bank management this morning met staff representatives, but no fruitful agreement was reached.

He said the management only agreed not to terminate national staff who participated in the strikes.

Mr Riak threatened that the strikess will continue until the management fulfils their demands.

KCB Legal Manager Ajo Noel said the new managing director instructed him to tell the staff that he will work out issues and get things to normal.

He said the managing director promised to iron out issues before Friday.

The KCB national staff complained that their Kenyan counterparts were given better pay, working conditions and services.
