Lakes State government declared three days of mourning for its Director of Protocol Abdallah Malook Mathiang who passed away on Wednesday after short illness.
Government spokesperson Dut Makoi Kuok told Good News Radio on Wednesday that Mr Malook was reportedly diagnosed with malaria at the hospital where he passed away.
Minister Makoi described Mr Malook as a hard working person who worked with State Governors since 2005.
He said they lost a great man who was very helpful to the governor and the state government.
A prison warden by profession, Mr Malook once revealed that he worked with nearly ten governors since the Khartoum regime.
The late Abdallah was known for traveling daily to sleep in his home area of Abiriu 30 kilometers away from Rumbek town but never came late for work despite the long distance.
