Garbage collection companies fail to clean Wau

An official declared that garbage collection companies that signed contracts with authorities failed to clean Wau town and instead invited more bacteria and insects.
 
Wau Municipality Public Health Officer Angelo Khamis Allahjabu explained that garbage in residential areas and markets increased mosquitoes and flies, Voice of Hope reported.
 
He added that diarrhoea, malaria and typhoid are results of unclean and polluted environments. 
 
Mr Khamis confirmed that Lulu and Nile Basin Companies that signed contracts with Municipal authorities failed to meet their mandates of keeping Wau clean.
 
He called government authorities to terminate the contracts and hand over garbage collection to the Municipality Public Health Department.
 
Mr Khamis also called on the state government to put more efforts on prevention of diseases instead of buying more drugs.
 
He clarified that the town needs proper planning to realize healthy environment.
 
Lulu and Nile Basin Companies could not be reached for comments.
 
Wau Teaching Hospital on Tuesday reported rise in acute diarrhoea cases.
