WES deputy Governor launches Girls Education

The Acting Governor of Western Equatoria State on Wednesday launched Girls Education in Yambio under the theme: ‘Girls Education Hope for the Nation.’
 
Gibson Bullen Wande stressed the need for effective monitoring and implementation of the project, Anisa Radio reported.
 
He urged parents and pupils to make good use of the money that will be given for their education.
 
General Education Minister Pia Philip Michael thanked UK government’s support.
 
He said the state government was working hard to promote girl’s education and become an example in the South Sudan. 
 
Windle Trust Director David Masua said the five-year project ends in 2018 with funding from UK government targeting to support 200 thousand girls in the state.
 
He explained that project objectives included behavior change through Media, cash transfer to schools and girls’ from primary five to senior four and attendance books.
 
Mr Masua appealed to the government to pass into law the Girls’ Education Bill in the state assembly to back up the project.
 
Windle Trust International in collaboration with Africa Educational Trust and the Episcopal Church of the Sudan  implementers of Girls’ Education.
