The President of the Republic expressed optimism that the new spirit of cooperation will yield fruits in their summit in Khartoum on Tuesday.

In a press statement issued on Monday President Salva Kiir said ‘I expect that this new spirit of cooperation will result in a resolution of some of the key issues.’

The Kiir’s visit follows a personal invitation by his Sudanese counterpart Omar Al Bashir.

Both leaders had regular telephone contact in an effort to maintain an open dialogue and build trust.

The two leaders will discuss several issues including the establishment of the final status of Abyei, security, border demarcation, movement of citizens along common borders, and troops.

Presidential press secretary Chaat Paul Nul said ‘the president is determined to break the deadlock over key issues facing both nations.’
