Terrible floods this week destroyed crops, buildings and displaced hundreds of residents in Mangalla Payam of Juba County in Central Equatoria State.

Caritas Field Officer Margret Pita told Bakhita Radio that floods destroyed all houses and crops leaving the residents homeless without food.

She said the floods also forced a recently built primary school to collapse.

Ms Pita appealed to NGOs and the state government to rescue the situation.

She disclosed that Governor Clement Wani Konga donated some food items to Kondokoro residents also displaced by floods.

Ms Pita said floods interrupted her team from distributing non food items to Mangalla residents at the beginning of this month.

She said when her team got there they found water everywhere.

Ms Pita added that her team could not meet Mangalla community demand’s because of limited resources but adviced residents to leave flooded places.

Mangalla community urged state and national governments to immediately intervene and rescue the situation, but their outcry was in vain.
