The Orthodox Church in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal State on Thursday celebrated the Assumption Day according to its calendar falling on August 22.
Fr Joseph John Ashounj explained that Mary is the second Eve to mankind and that the first Eve’s sins brought people down to earth, Voice of Hope reported.
He said the Blessed Virgin Mary took mankind to heaven through the birth of Jesus Christ.
Fr Ashounj said on Assumption Day everyone must reflect on his personality and that of Virgin Mary.
He urged all mothers and girls to take the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Last Thursday Wau Catholic Diocese celebrated Assumption Day at St. Mary Cathedral.
