Western Bahr El Ghazal Health Ministry on Wednesday launched breastfeeding week to sensitize mothers on the importance of first milk for babies.
The campaign was to encourage mothers to breastfeed their babies for six months without giving water or supplementary food.
Health minister Isaac Cleto told mothers to have direct eye contact with their babies during breastfeeding.
He advised mothers on the importance of child spacing.
Mr Cleto said three years difference between one child and another is important for healthy growth.
The campaign took place in Kwarjiena Boma of Jur County and will cover Raja and Wau counties.
