Yei River County Expanded Programme on Immunization or EPI supervisor urged parents and guardians to bring their children for polio vaccination.

Gulliver Wani Paul told Easter Radio on Tuesday that the national Health ministry and international non-governmental organizations approved oral polio vaccines.

He advised parents not to be scared because the vaccines will not harm their children.

Mr Wani called on parents and guardians to keep EPI department informed if the vaccinators did not reached their areas for quick response.

He pointed out that even sick children in the hospital or at home would be vaccinated.

Mr Wani said they are conducting the campaign to prevent children from contracting polio disease.

He explained that routine immunization was done every month targeting children below one year but due to outbreak of the disease in neighbouring countries, the campaign would vaccinate children between zero and five years of age.

The polio vaccination started on Monday and will end on Friday.
