Residents of Torit town in Eastern Equatoria state praised and appreciated a book written by the deputy Governor Jerome Gama Surur about self-reliance entitled ‘Reaping without sowing, Humanitarian Aid in South Sudan.’

One of the citizens who asked for anonymity told Emmanuel Radio that the book touched him because of its campaign for hard work.

Another respondent appreciated the book for teaching people to rely on fruits of their own hands.

One of the people said the book convinced him to continue reading because it is very educative.

A female respondent said she wants to learn how easy the new nation could shift away from humanitarian aid after years of dependence.

Mr Surur quoted the Book of Psalms 128:2 as saying ‘when you eat the labour of your hands, you shall be happy and it shall be well with you.’

He clarified that there will be no dependency syndrome or ‘Reaping without Sowing’ if people put into practice the quotation.
