The Government denied charges that it was taking sides in the current violence between Lou Nuer and Murle youths in Pibor County of Jonglei State.
Acting Government spokesperson Atem Yak Atem told CRN that he did not receive reports that the state government was siding with one of the parties in the deadly interethnic violence that started at the beginning of July.
He said it would be wrong to take sides as the Government is for all citizens.
Mr Yak was commenting on a statement by Human Rights Watch that the national leadership was taking sides in the Lou Nuer-Murle ethnic conflict in Pibor County.
The rights body issued a report titled ‘South Sudan: Army Making Ethnic Conflict Worse’ on Friday.
