80 Nuer leaders tell Kiir Machar must go

Nuer notables wrote to the President of the Republic asking him to boot out from office his Vice-President.
 
Eighty Nuer leaders and intellectuals in Europe, North America and Australia wrote a long letter to Salva Kiir Mayardit on Tuesday calling for the removal of Riek Machar Teny from the position of Vice-President.
 
The Citizen daily newspaper published the letter on Thusday.
 
The Nuer leaders praised Unity State Governor Taban Deng Gai’s sacking because ‚Äì they wrote ‚Äì he was ‘a source of constant threat to South Sudan national security for years.’
 
The subscribers condemned the letter Dr Machar wrote to Mr Kiir demanding the reinstatement of Mr Deng.
 
They charged that Dr Machar was reacting to the fact that the president did not appoint his wife Angelina Teny as Unity State caretaker Governor.
 
The 80 Nuer leaders wrote that they were ‘disappointed and felt embarrassed by the politics of division played by Vice-president Riek Machar Teny.’
 
They recommended that ‘Vice-president Riek Machar should be automatically relieved from his duties as soon as possible and replaced by a civilized person who would be serving the President and the people of South Sudan.’
