UN Human Rights sections in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal in collaboration with the Union of Journalists of South Sudan train journalists on human rights.
United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS Human Rights Officer Nwanie Obhor said the workshop aimed at building the capacities of journalists on human rights and acquaint them with UN and International conventions, Voice of Hope reported.
She said the training covers protection of journalists, media ethics and laws and equip journalists with skills to defend human rights.
State Information Minister Derrick Alfred Oya praised the workshop in building journalists’ capacity.
He appealed to UNMISS and UJOSS to organize more such trainings and enlighten journalists on the passed media bills.
The workshop drew more than 25 local journalists from different media outlets in Western Bahr El Ghazal state.
