EE Health Ministry delivers services amid challenges

 Eastern Equatoria Health ministry struggled in the past two years to deliver services amidst challenges.
 
Minister Margaret Itto Leonardo said with strained finances resulting from austerity measuresthe ministry managed to construct new health facilities, Emmanuel Radio reported.
 
Dr Itto said the ministry recruited one surgeon, medical officers, sustained running of six hospitals and 43 Primary Health Care Centres. 
 
She added that the ministry distributed five solar fridges for immunization in Lowyakali, Narus, Kudo, Pageri, Owinykibul and Ngauro Primary Health Care Centres.
 
Minister Itto said the ministry immunized 225 thousand mothers with tetanus Toxic and immunized 322 thousand children less than 5 years of age against six killer diseases. 
 
She said the ministry raised five point nine million Sterling Pounds to support Primary Health Care centres and Units.
 
Dr Itto revealed that the ministry planned to recruit skilled health personnel to provide services to the citizens.
 
A study on health attendance indicated that malaria, respiratory infections, diarrhoea, malnutrition and road accidents are high at Torit Hospital.
