The President of the Republic opens officially on Monday the Sixth Speakers’ Forum in Juba.
This is the first time national and state speakers meet after South Sudan’s independence, Bakhita Radio reported.
The forum was skipped last year due to the austerity measures that hit the country after the shutdown of oil production.
Parliamentary Affairs Undersecretary Gabriel Gabriel Deng told reporters in Juba on Saturday that the Sixth Speakers’ Forum will address problems of coordination between the legislatures and the executives at various levels.
The speakers will also debate the tense relationship between state executive and legislative arms of power.
Mr Deng revealed that his ministry organized the Speakers’ Forum to unify the voices of the assemblies both at national and state level across the country in order to address public concerns.
He added that the participants will also share information about best practices.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit will open the Sixth Speakers’ Forum and former Botswana President Festus Mogae will address the participants.
After the official launch, participants will continue the discussions at the new Parliamentary Affairs Ministry in Juba.
Officials from Kenya and South Africa will facilitate the training to share their expertise and experiences in the field.
The participants include speakers of the ten states’ legislative assemblies and their deputies, speakers from the national legislature, chairpersons of committees for legal affairs and governors.
