There is no actual information to confirm the interethnic violence taking place in Pibor County of Jonglei State.
Jonglei State Director of Community Security Agodi Adut Aguti told CRN over the phone that Pibor County Commissioner reported a ‘war’ taking place outside Pibor town but there was no concrete information about the violence.
He said the state does not have mobile phone coverage or roads and the authorities do not know what is happening on the ground.
Mr Adut noted that even Lou Nuer county commissioners said they did not know where their youths went.
He added that without communication channels between bomas, payams and counties it was impossible to get sure information.
Mr Adut said he had been hearing rumours about the interethnic violence in Pibor County but he was unable to confirm the ‘allegations’ from Bor.
