School administrators in the Catholic diocese of Wau are gathered for a five-day consultative workshop to set rules and regulations to boost the quality of Catholic schools.

More than 25 school administrators will share experiences and aggregate plans and ways forward to uplift the standard of Catholic education system in Western Bahr El Ghazal, Voice of Hope reported.

Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak of Wau hailed efforts by the administrators to improve performance.

He said more should be done for schools to uphold the principles of the Catholic Church in order to be called ‘Catholic schools’.

Bishop Deng asserted that in order to tame humanity, the Catholic schools target intellectual, moral and spiritual values.

He noted that punishments may be necessary considering the circumstances surrounding the learning environment, because the human person is not made of the spirit alone but of body as well.

Development advisor Sebastian Keamf said the three-day consultative workshop will help the diocese come out with policies that can boost the quality of diocesan education.

He pointed that administrators will share their experiences on how to raise the standard of Catholic schools both in towns and rural areas.

Two priests on educational planning and policy drafting, Peter Paul Amayo and George Ifati, facilitate the three-day workshop.

The expected policy framework will guide the operation of Catholic schools for the coming years.
