The Catholic Archdiocese of Juba on Wednesday laid to rest Fr Thomas Lodu Angelo at Rejaf Parish cemetery.
The burial took place after Auxiliary Bishop Santo Loku Pio presided over a requiem mass at Saint Theresa’s Cathedral, Bakhita Radio reported.
Bishop Loku said the church considered the 13 years of Fr Lodu’s services ‘mission accomplished.’
He lamented that it was unfortunate that priests receive poor attention from the people they serve to the extent that they are crushed on the roads.
Bishop Loku called on the faithful and all people of God to protect priests and help them in every possible way.
He prayed that Fr Lodu interceded for the people of God and the Church in Juba, in South Sudan and the world at large.
Hundreds of people attended the requiem mass and the burial.
Fr Lodu was killed when a car overran him on Sunday evening.
Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro ordained Fr Lodu in May 2000 at Saint Theresa’s Cathedral.
