Louis Lobong Lojore cheered the people to embrace a culture of hard work to enable them shift from trauma of assistance, Emmanuel Radio reported.
He encouraged all the citizens to instil in them the spirit of love, peace, unity and hard work.
Mr Lobong called on the citizens to make use of the fertile land for farming to secure the state from hunger.
The Governor said there was need to work hard to achieve the objectives the country fought for.
He appealed to citizens to stop injustices and oppression because they are key factors that led the country into war with Khartoum for many years.
Governor Lobong also urged people to stop cattle rustling saying it undermined unity and the spirit of independence of South Sudan.
Mr Lobong appealed to the citizens to fight corruption and abandon harmful traditional practices that deter development.
The Governor of Eastern Equatoria encouraged parents to educate their children to work for peace, unity and harmony for the prosperity of the nation.
