The two remaining media bills are ready for the third reading and should be passed before South Sudan celebrates the second anniversary of independence as a gift for the nation.

National Legislative Assembly Speaker James Wani Igga told MPs on Wednesday that the Access to Information Bill 2013 and Media Authority Bill 2013 were ready for the third reading.

He said since the public wanted the two bills so much, they should be passed before July 9 as a gift for the independence celebration.

After a long deliberation, Speaker Igga ruled that the two ‘over delayed bills’ should be passed on Monday before the parliament starts deliberating on the Budget for 2013-2014.

The Broadcasting Corporation Bill, the third media bill, was passed last week.
