Western Equatoria State Legislative Assembly on Wednesday summoned the state independence committee chairperson and forced him to resign if he did not increase independence celebrations budget.

Speaker Bage James Elisa read out the Assembly members’ resolutions that Gibson Bullen Wande must resign from the position of chairperson of the independence celebrations if he fails to implement the House’s resolutions, Anisa Radio reported.

The House resolved that each county share should be increased from 15 to 20 thousand Pounds to enable all Payams and Bomas enjoy the Independence Day celebration.

The resolution told the committee to include the disabled persons in the budget and transport fees for the MPs to go and celebrate in their various constituencies.

The House also resolved that the state government had to contribute 100 thousand Pounds to top the 500 thousand Pounds the national government donated for the second independence celebration.

Youth Minister Gibson Bullen Wande, who chairs the Independence celebrations committee, promised to take the resolutions to the higher authorities and feed back the assembly in few days.
