The National Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment reported that Yei River County in Central Equatoria State has been identified as the leading producer of coffee based on a research carried out by international market experts.
Yei River County Chamber of Commerce Chairman Tito Ayambu Jakondo told the media that, they discussed agriculture, market economy improvement and dollar scarcity during their meeting with the ministry in Juba, Easter Radio reported.
He said Yei coffee production was ranked at 98.7 percent in the global market standards.
Mr Ayambu explained that a micro scale coffee factory is likely to be established in Yei which in turn will generate more revenue to farmers and to the local Government.
Yei River County, in South Sudan’s green belt, is one of the breadbaskets of the nation.
