South Sudan Red Cross to construct maternity ward at Tore Payam

The Red Cross expressed readiness to construct a maternity waiting ward at Tore Payam of Yei River County, Central Equatoria.
 
South Sudan Red Cross Primary Health Care Coordinator Akedi Pasca said the Netherlands Red Cross Society will fund the construction of ten bedrooms and sanitary facilities at the cost of 400 thousand Euros, some two million pounds, Easter Radio reported.
 
She said the maternity waiting home is intended to mothers with complicated delivery to wait there for one to two weeks before giving birth.
 
Ms Pasca said the Red Cross will offer training to health personnel, vaccines, HIV voluntary counselling and testing and distribute delivery kits.
