A Salesian of Don Bosco deacon from Vietnam said it is a grace to be ordained to the priesthood in South Sudan, his new homeland.
Nguyen Duc Can Joseph, 38, will be ordained priest on Saturday in Gumbo, near Juba.He told CRN that it was a grace to receive the priesthood in his new country, the place he chose to serve.
He said he expected that some youths taking part in the “great occasion” of his ordination would follow his steps.
Deacon Joseph said his ordination was an occasion to thank God for the gift of vocation, his parents for his life and the Salesian family.
He added that he was preparing for the ordination full of joy, happiness and gratitude.
Deacon Joseph said as a Salesian priest he should show his love for the youth and commit his life to them to introduce them to Christ through his ministry.
He will be doing vocational work in South Sudan and Sudan after his ordination.
Deacon Joseph said his mission is to tell the youths to be good witnesses and show them a life full of joy, hope and love in order to attract them to consecrated life and ordained ministry.
Bishop Santo Loku Pio ordains Deacon Joseph to the priesthood at St Vincent de Paul’s-Gumbo parish.
The ordination mass starts at 10:00 AM.
