Yida Refugees Camp, in Unity States, needs an extra 500 latrines to fight waterborne diseases during the rainy season that has just started.

Health sources at the camp told CRN that over 70 thousand refugees share about 2,000 latrines but a number of them are full and should be decommissioned.

Samaritan’s Purse built about 2,000 latrines since August 2011 and MSF another 200.

Yida Refugee Camp needs urgently at least another 500 latrines in order to have a toilet for every four families and keep its sanitary conditions.

Public latrines are critical to combat Hepatitis E, diarrhoea and other waterborne diseases that attack the refugees during the rainy season.
