United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS rejected attempt to hand over its security section to private company.

Individual Contractors within the security section wrote a memorandum reacting to the Guard Force to end their services in UNMISS on June 30, because the section would be handed to private security company, Radio Bakhita reported.

The Guard Forces disagreed with the decision saying UNMISS was not for business but building the capacity of South Sudanese.

The Guard Forces rejected private company taking over UNMISS security section because a foreign company would offer many vacancies to foreigners instead of locals.

Individual contractors concluded that no security company can take over their position as long as UNMISS is not a business organization.

They called on the Director of Mission, the UN Secretary-General Special Representative and the Guard Force to come up with clear solutions in less than 48 hours.

Warrior Security Company was linked with the business to take over the UNMISS security department.
