Tokyo International Conference on African Development or TICAD ended on Monday in Yokohama, Japan and adopted a declaration to promote foreign investment in Africa.

The Declaration called for cooperation to achieve accelerated growth, sustainable development, reduction of poverty in Africa and increase in vocational training, GoSS website reported.

It pledged to improve legal systems and infrastructure to encourage private foreign investment and ensures commitment to advanced agricultural technologies to boost food production.
The plan set a target of six percent growth for Africa’s agricultural sector and a doubling of its rice production by 2018.
The declaration appreciated the Government of Japan for the contribution of 550 million US dollars for supporting humanitarian assistance in Africa.
The leaders adopted an action plan to meet the declaration’s goals.
