ELDERLY JOURNALISTS EXTREMELY SELFISH

Elderly journalists are extremely selfish because they are not imparting the experiences they got to the young comrades to take over from them.

Deputy Information Minister Atem Yak Atem blamed his fellow senior journalists for not being courageous to think the future, but are existing the profession without training their successors.

He said elderly journalists think if they trained the young journalists they will take their places and they will not earn their leaving.

Mr Yak advised young journalists to be courageous in telling the truth and not to care of being unpopular.

He said one of the biggest problems which originated from Sudan is that journalists always fear to tell the truth.

The deputy minister said the media practitioners always shy away when they see troubles and do not carry on with their duty.

Mr Yak was talking during at the two-day discussion “How the world views Africa: the role of African journalists in forming the narrative” on Wednesday.
