The Minister of Agriculture in the Nuba Mountains called on farmers to start sowing as the rains started.
Jamil Makki Abdu said that the ministry is ready to support farmers with the necessary information they need for the planting season.He added that the ministry got some seeds, which it will distribute to farmers in all localities in Nuba Mountains.
Mr Makki said those displaced by the war will be given priority during the distribution of the seeds.
He added that teams of workers from the ministry were trained to provide guidance and support for the population on how to plant the seeds.
Mr Makki warned the communities about their over-dependence on the ministry of agriculture for seeds.
He urged farmers to start sowing what they have while waiting for the seeds from the ministry.
The minister described the Nuba community as agriculturalist and called on everyone to produce food for consumption.
