Forty-two prospective media practitioners graduated after completing a six-month course organized by a local media association.

The training and Saturday’s graduation took place at Bakhita Radio facilities in Juba.

Secretary General of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba Gabriel Asida Andrew appreciated the effort of the South Sudan Media Form for establishing a programme to train journalists, Bakhita Radio reported.

He said the training is vital because it improves the quality and number of reporters.

Fr Asida urged the graduates to put into practice all that they learned during the last six months.

He also advised them to follow the code of ethics with professionalism in order to enjoy their careers.

Fr Asida warned against plagiarism and labelling, two major offenses in journalism “that can retard accurate reporting.”

The training covered ethics, news coverage and reporting, programme presentation, writing skills and investigative journalism.
