Lainya youths and elders blame each other for the issues of early marriage and high dowry prices in county.

Juma Scopus blamed the government for not setting an age limit for marriage, Radio Easter reported.

He also blamed the elders of being ruthless with boyfriends: he said girls meet boys on roadside to avoid being beaten.

Mr Scopus called for the regulation of marriage age because some people use the dowry to buy cars and other luxuries.

Celina Yangi Peter said girls were being blamed for no reason because parents cannot respect themselves and give their daughters to men of their age instead of paying school fees and letting them study.

Deacon Salome Jade Lasu for the Episcopal Church of Sudan said most girls get pregnant before proper marriage.

He lamented the young people go out at night without the knowledge of the parents.

Isaac Laku Andrew said the Constitution should set a specific age limit for marriage to avoid confusion.

Mr Laku specified that it should be forbidden for girls to marry at 15.

He encouraged equal payment of dowry in order to promote unity in the community.
