Warrap State raiders attacked a cattle camp in Wulu County of Lakes State killing five people and wounding seven others.
Wulu County Commissioner Akol Muorwel told Good News Radio on Sunday that raiders believed to be from Tonj South attacked the camp in the early hours of Saturday and took thousands of cows with them.The animals belonged to cattle keepers from Cueibet County camping in Wulu’s pastures.
He said security forces rescued about 2,000 cows from the raiders.
Mr Muorwel was appointed last month Wulu County Commissioner.
He said his priorities include maintaining security and initiating peaceful coexistence between payams and with bordering counties.
Mr Muorwel added that development would follow.
Wulu, home to the Jur Belli people, is the most peaceful county in Lakes State.
