Intense fighting between government forces and rebels displaced many civilians in the embattled area of Um-Barbeta in Nuba Mountains.
An eyewitness said at least nine SPLM-N fighters was wounded in the fighting which started at 6:00 AM on Sunday.He explained that the rebels came across some armed people suspected to be nomads on their way to Um-Barbeta.
He said the fighting lasted for two hours before the rebels withdrew after facing serious resistance from the government forces.
