Heiban Clinic in Nuba Mountains received a considerable quantity of medicines from an unnamed international organization to ease the problem of shortage of drugs in the county.

Medical Director Hassan Sharif Kuku said the clinic ran low on medicines for the past six months.

He added that the donation was very timely, though not sufficient.

Mr Kuku expressed his appreciation for the supply of drugs and appealed to other NGOs to support the Nuba population with medical services.

The Medical Director said the common diseases infecting the population in Heiban County are malaria, dry cough, diarrhoea and pneumonia.

He added that these infections are common due to the lack of awareness in the community.
