A Sudanese rebel movement called for the immediate and unconditional release of Christians and suspected rebel supporters arrested this week by security forces in Khartoum.
SPLM-N spokesperson Arnu Ngatulu Lodi says more than 60 people suspected of aiding the rebels were arrested as retaliation to Saturday’s successful attack in Umm Rawaba by Sudan Revolutionary Front or SRF forces. He added that the SPLM-N believes in the principles of respect of fundamental human rights, culture, religious diversity, democracy and freedom of expression.
Mr Ngatulu accused the Khartoum government of harassing and violating the rights of Christians and other groups in contravention of international agreements and conventions ratified by Sudan.
He called on all Sudanese people to stand against the repressive Khartoum regime, which constantly violates the rights of Sudanese.
The SPLM-N spokesman urged the Sudanese people to support the SFR in their struggle to uproot the government of President Omar al Bashir.
