A journalist is encouraging colleague women to exert more efforts to come to the fore in the profession and other women to join in.
Association for Media Development in South Sudan or AMDISS official Ayaa Irene encouraged fellow women journalists to become more active.She told CRN that World Press Freedom Day is to bring journalists together to express their freedom without interference.
Ms Irene encouraged the journalists to be patient until the media bills are passed into laws to regulate media work and lessen journalists’ harassment.
Bullen Kenyi of the Union of Journalists of South Sudan said the theme of this year’s celebration underlines the safety of journalists, a cause for concern for the international community about South Sudan.
He added that the UN agencies are monitoring the way the Government treats journalists.
This year’s World Press Freedom Day is celebrated under the theme “Safe to Speak: Securing Freedom of Expression in All Media.”
