The Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North or SPLA-N forces said they captured Dandor, a government controlled territory in Umdarain, Nuba Mountains.

SPLA-N First Lieutenant Abud Atia took part in the battle for Dandor. He said the SPLA-N took control of the locality on Monday at 9:00 AM after fierce fighting.

He added that the rebels seized one tank, five vehicles mounted with machineguns and plenty of military equipment from the Sudan Armed Forces.

Mr Atia said SAF suffered great loss of lives and that more than 400 Government civilians were captured.

He added that SPLA-N lost one soldier and 18 others were wounded.

SPLM-N spokesperson Arnu Ngatulu Lodi warned civilians to distance themselves from the government controled bases.

He explained that the SPLA-N attacked Dondor in retaliation for the aerial bombardments the Khartoum regime carries out daily in the Nuba Mountains region.

Mr Ngatulu declared that more than 250 families have been displaced by the latest bombardments.

He called upon humanitarian organizations to urgently provide support to the displaced in Nuba Mountains.

CRN could not confirm independently SPLA-N claims that it took Dondor.
