The presidents of South Sudan and Sudan on Friday pledged to reopen full border trade between the two countries and remove all barriers on the movement of people.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit said in a press conference after a closed door meeting with President Omar Al Bashir on Friday that the two presidents agreed to fully resume border trade and free movement of goods and people.

He added that they agreed to improve security along the border as required by the Cooperation Agreements and to form the Abyei Administration and pay the arrears to the Abyei Council.

President Omar al Bashir said the two presidents committed to take the relations between South Sudan and Sudan from good to better and to remove all the obstacles that hinder movement of people and goods across the borders.

He added that they agreed to continue the dialogue on pending issues to reach a happy solution that can bring security and stability between the two countries.

President Bashir invited President Kiir to visit Khartoum to continue dialogue and speed up joint efforts to strengthen relationships between the two countries.
